Grandmothers Corps:  Adoration Manual

This is a collection of prayers that we can use with our grandchildren.  We also  use these prayers when the blessed Sacrament is exposed.  Our group uses this manual one hour a month on Tuesdays

Angel of God my guardian dear, to whom his love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen



Prayer To Be Prayed by Grandparents

O Good St. Anne, help me to recognize the great dignity of being a grandparent.  Direct my paths to understand and experience all the graces God wishes for me in this vital role within my family.

When all is well, grant that I may fully share in the joys and accomplishments of all my loved ones.  When life is difficult, lead me to be a source of encouragement, support and hope for everyone.  During times of illness and suffering, give me the strength to guide my family to firmly trust in God’s loving care and kindness.

As you did, St. Anne, help me to know and practice all the ways God wishes for me to be an encouraging presence of faith, charity and unity within my family.  Watch over and protect me, my children and my grandchildren.  Inspire us to lead good and virtuous lives.

Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary, I ask for God’s continued blessings on my family, that dedicated to God’s service on earth, all the members of my family may one day share together in the eternal happiness of God’s unending love in Heaven.  Amen

My Lord Jesus Christ, for the love which You bear to men, You remain night and day in this Sacrament full of compassion and of love, awaiting, calling, and welcoming all who come to visit You. I believe that You are present in the Sacrament of the Altar: I adore You from the abyss of my nothingness, and I thank You for all the graces which You have bestowed upon me and in particular for having given me Yourself in this Sacrament, for having given me your holy Mother Mary for my advocate, and for having called me to visit You in this chapel. I now salute
Your most loving Heart: and this for three ends:
1. In thanksgiving for this great gift;
2. To make amends to You for all the outrages which You receive in this Sacrament from all Your enemies;
3. I intend by this visit to adore You in all the places on earth in which You are the least revered and the most abandoned.My Jesus, I love You with all my heart. I grieve for having so many times offended Your infinite goodness. I promise with Your grace never more to offend You in the future.
Now, miserable and unworthy though I be, I consecrate myself to You without reserve;
I give You my entire will, my affections, my desires, and all that I possess. From now on dispose of me and of all that I have as You please. All that I ask of You and desire is Your holy love, final perseverance, and the perfect accomplishment of Your will. I recommend to You the souls in purgatory; but especially those who had the greatest devotion to the most Blessed Sacrament and to the Blessed Virgin Mary. I also recommend to You all poor sinners.

My dear Saviour, I unite all my affections with the affections of Your most loving Heart; and I offer them, thus united, to Your eternal Father, and beseech Him in Your name to vouchsafe, for Your love, to accept them.


Joyful, joyful we adore You, God of glory, Lord of love.

Hearts unfold like flowers before You, opening to the sun above.

Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; drive the dark of doubt away.

Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day.


All Your works with joy surround You, earth and heaven reflect Your rays.

Stars and angels sing around You, center of unbroken praise.

Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea.

Chanting bird and flowing fountain, praising You eternally!




In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen


I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, Our Lord, (bow your head)who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen


Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come;   Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.


Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of out death.  Amen


Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen


O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell.  Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy.


1st Joyful Mystery – The Annunciation

The Angel Gabriel appears to Mary, announcing she is to be the Mother of God.

2nd Joyful Mystery – The Visitation

Elizabeth greets Mary. “Blessed art Thou among women and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb!”

3rd Joyful Mystery – The Nativity

The Virgin Mary gives birth to the Redeemer of the world.

4th Joyful Mystery – The Presentation

The Blessed Mother presents the Child Jesus in the Temple.

5th Joyful Mystery – The Finding in the Temple

The Blessed Mother finds Jesus in the Temple.



1st Luminous Mystery – Baptism of Christ

Jesus is baptized in the River Jordan by John the Baptist.

2nd Luminous Mystery – Wedding at Cana

Jesus turns water into wine at the wedding in Cana.

3rd Luminous Mystery – Proclamation of the Kingdom of God

Jesus goes through the towns and cities in his own country proclaiming God’s Kingdom and helping the poor.

4th Luminous Mystery – Transfiguration

Jesus leads friends to Mt Tabor where they see Him in glorious light.

5th Luminous Mystery – Institution of the Holy Eucharist

At supper with His friends before he dies, Jesus gives himself to them in bread and wine.



1st Sorrowful Mystery – The Agony in the Garden

At Gethsemane Jesus prays as he contemplates the sins of the world.

2nd Sorrowful Mystery – The Scourging at the Pillar

Jesus is cruelly scourged until his mortified body could bear no more.

3rd Sorrowful Mystery – Crowning with thorns

A crown of thorns is placed on the head of Jesus.

4th Sorrowful Mystery – Carrying of the Cross

Jesus carries the heavy cross upon his shoulders to Calvary.

5th Sorrowful Mystery – The Crucifixion

Jesus is nailed to the cross and dies after three hours of Agony.



1st Glorious Mystery – The Resurrection

Jesus rises glorious and immortal three days after his death.

2nd Glorious Mystery – The Ascension

Jesus ascends into Heaven 40 days after his Resurrection.

3rd Glorious Mystery – Descent of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit descends upon Mary and the Apostles.

4th Glorious Mystery – The Assumption

The Blessed Mother is unified with her Divine son in Heaven.

5th Glorious Mystery – The Coronation :

Mary is gloriously crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth.


The “Hail,Holy Queen” and “Let us Pray” are said at the end of the rosary.


Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy!  Our life, our sweetness, and our hope!  To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile show unto us thy blessed fruit of thy womb Jesus.  O Clement, O loving,    O sweet Virgin Mary.

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.


O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech Thee, that meditation upon these mysteries in the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise through the same Christ our Lord  Amen.




Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

With God as our Father, children all are we.

Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.

With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow;

Come, Holy Spirit, fill my heart with Your holy gifts. Let my weakness be penetrated with your strength this very day, that I may fulfill all the duties of my state conscientiously, that I may do what is right and just.  Let my charity be such as to offend no one, and hurt no one’s feelings; so generous as to pardon sincerely any wrong done to me.  Assist me, O Holy Spirit, in all my trials of life, enlighten me in my ignorance, advise me in my doubts, strengthen me in my weakness, help me in all my needs, protect me in temptations and console me in afflictions.  Graciously hear me, O Holy Spirit, and pour Your light into my heart, my spirit, and my mind.  Assist me to live a holy life and to grow in goodness and grace.  Amen




Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest,
And in our souls take up your rest;
Come with your grace and heavenly aid
To fill the hearts which you have made.

O Comforter, to you we cry,
O heavenly gift of God Most High,
O fount of life and fire of love,
And sweet anointing from above.



God of all life, I thank You for the gift of children and grandchildren.  I ask for Your guidance and strength to be the best mother and grandmother I can be.

Because You have entrusted them to my care, help me to assist them in becoming compassionate and responsible adults, strong in their Catholic faith and confident in the goodness and abilities You have given them.

Grant that they may be ever aware of Your presence in their lives, and confident in Your unconditional love for them.

Fill my children and grandchildren with Your choicest blessings.  Enrich their souls with Your grace.  Inspire them with Your wisdom.  Lead them to mature in virtue each day, so that our family may be always united with You and with each other, in this life and in the next. Amen


Prayer of St. Francis

Verse 1: 
Make me a channel of your peace. 
Where there is hatred, let me bring your love. 
Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord, 
And where there's doubt, true faith in you.

Verse 2: 
Make me a channel of your peace. 
Where there's despair in life, let me bring hope.

Oh Master, grant that I may never seek

Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary,

that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection

You know all that is in our hearts, dear God, and so you know how much we love and care about children.  We want to entrust all children to your care, that you might guide them in their daily decisions and keep them from harm.  Help us to believe that you watch over them always, and that you want only good things for them.  Forgive them when they fail, and keep your guiding hand on them as they face the big and little decisions of their lives.  We place them in your loving care. Amen+




Blessed is the grandmother who makes peace with spilled milk and mud pies for such is the realm of childhood.

Blessed is the grandmother who refuses to compare her grandchildren with others, for precious is the rhythm of growth of every child.

Blessed is the grandmother who has learned to laugh, for it is the music of the child’s world.

Blessed is the grandmother who can say “no” without anger, for comforting to the child is the security of a firm decision.

Blessed is the grandmother who shares her faith – for children need hope.

Blessed is the grandmother who loves her grandchildren in the midst of a hostile world for love is the greatest of all gifts.




I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard My people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear My light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.

I, the Lord of snow and rain,

The Lord said to Blessed Faustina:
"You will recite this chaplet on the beads of the Rosary in the following manner

You expired Jesus but the source of life gushed forth for souls and the ocean of Mercy opened up for the whole world, Oh Fount of life, unfathomable Divine Mercy. envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out on us  ,

Oh blood and water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us.   (3 times)

Our Father, one Hail Mary, and the I Believe In God.

Then: On the large beads say

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

On the small beads say

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Conclude with:

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world ( 3 times)

Closing prayer

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.
